Always a fun event. For two nights downtown Saratoga Springs celebrates the return of thoroughbred racing - and this year - the 150th year of racing in Saratoga with the Hats Off Celebration..
The fun started Friday at 7 pm with the ribbon-cutting on a closed Caroline Street. Actually, a little latter than 7 - Todd Shimkus, Chamber president was a little late.
Joining Todd for the ribbon-cutting was Deputy Mayor Shauna Sutton and President Lincoln and Ulysses and Julia Grant (re-enactors in authentic all wool garb).
With temperature in the 90's the re-enactors were suffering for their craft. They were there also to let people know the General and Mrs Grant would be at Grant's Cottage frequently this summer.
Hats Off is sponsored by the Downtown Business Association which will also celebrate the end of racing over Labor Day with the Final Stretch Celebration.
